Accommodation

  • Incredible Birding (Khushboo & Rahul Sharma) — spartan-but-clean, simple wholesome food, most reasonable after comparing 3–4 providers (.vcf: Incredible Birding.vcf).
  • Jeevan's homestay — delightful, very good food.
  • Nature Sparsh Homestay (Suryagaon/Jantwalgaon) — friendly, has a bird hide.
  • Moustache Select Sattal — newer property.
  • Prabhu Hazara — reportedly raised tariffs, service declining (per group feedback).

Species & seasonal notes

  • Best Oct → May (avoid monsoon). Nov-mid onwards good; Dec onwards best. Early June good for baby owls / fledglings. April also works.
  • 'Sattal Studio' (water body right of Sattal lake, near parking, ~100 steps down): 45 species in a single day possible. Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/48UthNupfNLyLyuK9
  • Most hides have been closed for feeding/ethical reasons — back-door entry possible but activity minimal.
  • Naukuchiatal (lotus pond, waterbirds, boating) and Bhimtal trail both nearby.
